The Manhattan University Department of Public Safety endeavors to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for the University community, as well as its visitors, and guests. Our goal is to support the Lasallian heritage and educational mission of the University by fostering a sense of respect, cooperation, and ethical behavior among the members of our community. The Department of Public Safety remains diligent in its efforts to maintain order on campus while promoting a setting free of crime, fear, and lawlessness.

Mission

• JASPER SAFE is a community safety program that embodies the University’s mission through the Department of Public Safety by ensuring a commitment to the safety and welfare of our students, staff, faculty and visitors both on campus and along our campus perimeter.
• JASPER SAFE is a partnership with our local neighborhood businesses to provide a safe haven for students, faculty and staff in the event they feel unsafe at any particular time. Individuals who see a business with a
• JASPER SAFE sticker in the entryway will know that this business is a member of this partnership.
• Upon entering the business, the individual will inform the business staff that they are a member of the Manhattan University community and need Public Safety’s assistance. The staff will contact the Department of Public Safety to either escort them to campus or ensuring their safety by contacting NYPD for further assistance. 
• All participating businesses will receive recognition on Manhattan University’s Public Safety website.
