Manhattan University offers courses in a variety of delivery modes including in-person, online, and blended. Each of the specific course types is described below.

    • In-Person Classes

In-person classes (Type “Lecture” or “Lab” in Self Service) meet on campus in a classroom. Class sessions occur at the same scheduled time(s) and in the same designated location(s) each week according to the official course schedule posted on Self-Service. In addition to attending in-person class sessions, students will be expected to complete work independently as outlined in the course syllabus.

    • Online Synchronous Courses

Online synchronous courses have regularly scheduled weekly meeting times that students attend via videoconferencing software. Class sessions occur at the same scheduled time(s) each week according to the official course schedule posted on Self-Service. Synchronous activities may include live lectures, whole-class discussions and activities, group work, and instructor-supervised independent work. In addition to the live class sessions, students will be expected to complete work independently as outlined in the course syllabus and posted to the Moodle class site.

    • Online Asynchronous Courses

Online asynchronous courses have no weekly scheduled meeting times. Students complete work independently by following the course schedule and completing assigned tasks posted to the class Moodle site. The instructor may or may not offer live video conferencing sessions on an occasional basis. Individual meetings with the instructor or collaborative group work may also be required.

    • Blended Courses

Blended courses have both in-person and online components. Classes meet on campus and have a classroom assignment on Self Service, with specific days/times. Class sessions occur at the same scheduled time(s) and in the same designated location(s) each week according to the official course schedule posted on SelfService. In addition to the live class sessions, students will be expected to complete work independently as outlined in the course syllabus and posted to the Moodle class site.

    • Dual Courses

Dual courses have synchronous class sessions that students can attend in-person or virtually. Classes meet on campus and have a classroom assignment on Self Service, with specific days/times. Alternatively, students can attend class via videoconferencing software. Certain courses and programs may have specific rules regarding virtual attendance and the degree of attendance flexibility that is permitted.
