Manhattan College hires outstanding students to be orientation leaders each summer. The position offers housing and a stipend, as well as the opportunity to grow your leadership skills.

About Orientation

The purpose of summer orientation is to aid in the acclimation of new students to Manhattan College through interactions with the many members of the Manhattan College community. It is expected when students conclude orientation, they are made to feel confident in their choice of college, included and welcomed nto the community, and capable of succeeding here.

Specific Responsibilities of Orientation Leaders

  • Planning and facilitating orientations (inclusive of handling mailings, ordering supplies, scheduling workshops and events, producing a presentation about campus life, displaying school pride).
  • Office work (managing emails and social media, answering phones, photocopying, faxing, creating a comprehensive calendar of opening activities, creating event advertisement, maintaining bulletin boards).
  • Corresponding with new students throughout the summer and fielding inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills required for successful Orientation Leader

  • Ability to assume responsibility, follow directives, work quickly and effectively under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge about Manhattan College campus life.
  • Enthusiasm, work well as part of a team, goal-oriented.
