Commuter Student Weather Emergency Protocols

The Manhattan College Commuter Student Weather Emergency is contingent upon the shut down of public transportation which includes, but is not limited to the MTA, Metro North and NJ transit; subject to the discretion of the Emergency Management Committee. All commuter students are subject to the Community Standards and the Student Code of Conduct

  • During times of emergency, students must make contact with parents or guardians immediately to let them know that they are safe and they will be staying on campus. Charging stations are available and can be found on campus.
  • If you know someone in the residence halls and would like to stay in that person’s room overnight, please reach out to him/her directly. They in turn, will register you as a guest through the residence life portal (myMC PORTAL). The security officer at the front desk of the building where you will be staying will have a list of all guests. Resident students and their guest are both subject to the College’s Student Code of Conduct.
  • Kelly Commons 2nd Floor is the designated commuter emergency housing lounge. Students must enter through the front door only. Sleeping bags will be provided for you. You must present your Manhattan College identification.
  • Meal services will be provided up until 11PM in Locke’s Loft and/or boxed meals will be provided dependent on weather conditions or the nature of the emergency. You must present your Manhattan College identification to receive a meal.
  • All accommodations during emergencies are free of charge for Manhattan College students.
  • All commuter students should register for the E2CAMPUS Alert System
