The Manhattan University Council for Faculty Affairs (CFA), first convened in 1972, is “a means by which faculty, through elected representatives, participate in the government of the university in those matters that are the proper jurisdiction of the faculty.”
The faculty has primary responsibility for such fundamental areas as curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction, research, faculty status, and those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process.
Membership
Full time faculty who have been at the university for three years can be elected to the CFA to represent 20 areas of the university as listed below:

- Communication/Music & Theatre/Art History & Digital Media Art
- Mathematics

Standing Committees
The standing committees of the council are concerned with the following areas of great importance to the faculty: 1) educational policies; 2) faculty and development; 3) student life.
In general, standing committees consist of full-time tenured or tenure-track members of the faculty who have taught at the University for at least one year. The standing committees are:

In addition, the CFA appoints:
- faculty representatives to the committees of the Board of Trustees
- one person to the University Curriculum Committee
- faculty to serve on the Enrollment Management Advisory Committee and the First Year Experience Committee
- a list of eligible faculty for service on Hearing Committees regarding Termination of Services
- Advisory Committee on Campus Safety
- First Year Experience
