2:55 p.m.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency today due to the impending snowstorm. The National Weather Service is forecasting extremely cold temperatures and significant snowfall for the metropolitan area this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens, with wind chills making it feel like single digits. Additionally, significant snowfall is expected to begin early Sunday morning and continue through Monday, with accumulations potentially reaching 12 inches or more.

The University is closely monitoring the weather and will make a decision regarding the status of on-campus work, classes, and services sometime on Sunday. Depending on the severity of the storm, the University may transition to remote operations including classes.

The community will be notified via the E2Campus Emergency Alert System, University email,  the University website and social media platforms.

Employees should consult with their supervisor in advance regarding work that may be performed remotely, should a remote work status be implemented. Please note that essential employees will still be required to report to work, unless otherwise directed.  University housing will be made available, as needed, for employees who are required to report to campus, should travel be difficult or unsafe.
