Where is the Office of General Counsel located?

The Office of General Counsel is located at 4513 Manhattan College Pkwy, Riverdale, New York 10471 in Room 100A in Miguel Hall

Does the Office of General Counsel provide legal advice on personal matters to members of the campus community?

The Office of General Counsel does not provide legal advice on personal matters to members of the campus community.

What should you do if you receive a subpoena or court documents?

If you are on the Manhattan campus and someone tries to serve you a subpoena, summons or legal notice that concerns the college, you should direct them to the Office of General Counsel located in Miguel Hall room 100A.

If the notice comes in the mail or is hand-delivered to you, please send us a copy right away by emailing ogc@manhattan.edu. The original, hard copies should be delivered to the Office of General Counsel as soon as possible.

If you receive legal paperwork on behalf of the college, you should let the Office of General Counsel know about it immediately, preferably the same day. These documents often contain important information and deadlines. Please don’t delay in passing them along to us.

Does your office offer a Legal Internship Program?

Yes, Manhattan College OGC offers a Legal Internship Program. We offer law students the opportunity to intern part-time during the fall or spring academic semesters or full-time during the summer. For more details please contact ogc@manhattan.edu 

Does your office provide Notary Services?

The Office of the General Counsel provides free notary services to the Manhattan College community. 

New York law requires you to provide the Notary Public a federal or state identification that contains your photograph and signature, such as a driver’s license or passport. A Manhattan College ID is not sufficient documentation. We will not be able to notarize your documents unless you provide appropriate identification.

The documents should be completely filled out, but unsigned. The Notary Public cannot notarize an incomplete form and is required to witness you sign the document.
