Opening Weekend

Friday, Aug. 23 - Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019

To kick-off your first year at Manhattan College, we require all incoming freshmen to take part in the excitement of Opening Weekend. This three-day event is designed to help you smoothly transition to college life. Attendance at all sessions throughout the weekend is mandatory.

Detailed schedules will be available for pick up as follows:

  • Resident Students: August 22, in their residence hall lobby during check-in
  • Commuter Students: August 23, in Kelly Commons (2nd Floor) from 7:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

Schedule Overview

Day 1 - Friday, August 23

Opening Weekend will begin with breakfast from 7-8:30 a.m. The first session starts at 9 a.m. when students will meet with the deans and faculty in respective schools. The President of Manhattan College, Dean of Students, faculty and student leaders will then formally welcome the Class of 2023 at New Student Convocation. This event begins at 2 p.m. and business casual attire is required.

Day 2 - Saturday, August 24

On the second day, there will be breakfast from 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m.. The first session will start at 9:30 a.m. with the Student Life department hosting interactive workshops about what can be expected in your first year of college. The Class of 2023 will also gather for community-building activities in Smith Auditorium.   

Day 3 - Sunday, August 25

Opening Weekend will conclude with yoga, brunch, an afternoon of neighborhood walking tours, and a Health & Wellness Expo. Sunday afternoon is the first Mass of the school year, followed by a dessert reception.

Additionally, a commuter student brunch will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Smith Auditorium.
