Support and Healing

The Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center is required to report all cases of sexual misconduct to Sheetal Kale, Manhattan College’s Title IX and equity officer. If you would prefer a confidential resource, please reach out to the Counseling Center, to our campus Chaplain, Father Thomas Franks, or to these off-campus resources {list}. The LWGRC can provide you with an advocate or support person through the reporting process. We are here for you.

If you have been subjected to or witness to a sexual assault, harassment, or other form of gender-based violence, or an act of bias, intolerance, or hazing, Manhattan College strongly encourages you to report the incident. As a community together by association, we keep each other safe by reporting acts of violence and bias, as well as by creating opportunities for healing and emotional support. You are entitled to an educational experience free of sexual violence and other forms of bias. The Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center supports survivors by doing critical work in gender and sexuality in order to shift institutional policy and narratives around our lived experiences with violence, and to create spaces and tools through which survivors are able to name their experiences and represent themselves.

Regardless of your decision to report, you are entitled to confidential and free emotional support and medical care through the college’s Counseling Center. The Lasallian Women and Gender Resource Center provides emotional support by creating spaces and resources for reclaiming oneself in the wake of gender-based violence. We accomplish this through healing circles, storytelling and other forms of artistic expression, coalition building, organizing, and body-honoring healing modalities. We are committed to co-creating accessible and liberatory Lasallian-informed community healing space that is all-gender and all-body honoring.
