For more than a century, AAUW has helped more than 11,000 women from over 130 countries break through barriers and pursue their dreams of obtaining graduate degrees or making an impact in their communities.  Fellowship and grant recipients undergo a highly competitive selection process. Academic excellence, commitment to improving the human condition, and the promise of continued impact are cornerstones of the rigorous criteria. Respected scholars, researchers, teachers, and practitioners review the fellowship and grant applications. These reviewers are either experts in specialized fields of study or community leaders who recognize the power of collaboration at the local level.  The International Fellowships will support graduate studies at accredited U.S. institutions.

Specific Eligibility Criteria

International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree by September 30 of the following year and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application. Up to five fellowships are renewable for a second year.
