Green Dot

green dotWhat is Green Dot?

Green Dot is a violence prevention program that focuses on making our campus safer by empowering bystanders to become active members in reducing power-based personal violence (sexual assault, partner violence and stalking).

The name green dot refers to the mapping system used by law enforcement where red dots mark locations of criminal acts. With this program, we hope to replace the red dots on a map with green dots which represent acts that promote safety and that express intolerance for violence in our campus community.

Why We Need Green Dots

  • 1 in 5 women will experience attempted or completed sexual assault during college
  • 1 in 10 reports of sexual assault are made by men
  • 1 in 3 relationships have some aspect of abuse present
  • 1 in 4 women and 1 in 13 men will experience stalking

For us at Green Dot, we find the human cost behind these numbers far too alarming. The people behind the numbers could be our fellow Jaspers. Our best friends. The people we love.

We can’t stand by anymore, and we’re hoping that you’ll stand with us as we work to reduce violence on our campus. Our belief at Green Dot is that no one has to do everything, but everyone can do something.

What will you do?
