The Judith Plaskow Lecture presents "Who is My Neighbor?: Race, Culture and American Life"

On Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 4-6pm in Hayden 100 we have scheduled the Judith Plaskow Women and Religion Lecture.

This year's speaker is Dr. M. Shawn Copeland is Professor Emerita at Boston College.

The title of her presentation is Who Is My Neighbor?: Race, Culture, and American Life

This lecture interprets the ‘Parable of the Good Samaritan’ as told by the Jewish rabbi Jesus of Nazareth and recorded in the New or Christian Testament in order to probe its usefulness for contemporary living. Civility, decency, respect, along with basic democratic values seem to be under assault around the globe. Perhaps, critical consideration of the basic command––to love one’s neighbor as oneself––might help us recover “the better angels of our nature.”
