L.O.V.E. is a service immersion program for students and the wider Manhattan College community that takes place both domestically and abroad over school breaks, focusing on educating students on social justice issues impacting communities prior to visiting and exposing students to local culture, engaging in direct dialogue with community partners, and practicing simple living while on location. Through reflection before and after their experiences, students are challenged to think critically and examine issues of power, privilege, oppression, poverty and inequality, particularly relating to the place they will be visiting, and are then encouraged to connect their experiences back to their local communities when they return to campus.
