Graduate Assistant: Marketing & Communication

The graduate assistant will support a variety of editorial, web, multimedia, advertising, photography and social media needs for the office of Marketing and Communication. The graduate assistant will play an integral role in writing featured news articles, spotlights and press releases for the website, drafting stories for the alumni magazine, and marketing and advertising collateral pieces, and taking and/or selecting photography for the website and
print publications. This position will also help create multimedia content for the website and social media by attending campus events.

The graduate assistant will have the opportunity to assist with building the college’s social media presence in a variety of platforms. This position will also work with the editor of the magazine on alumni notes and possibly help with migrating these online.

Minimum Qualifications

*Bachelor’s degree is required, and must be pursuing an advanced degree
*Some coursework in journalism, communications or English is preferred
*Strong writing and editing skills
*Experience with social media
*Experience with writing for the web and utilizing a content management system
*Basic knowledge of Photoshop
*Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
*Experience working in a higher education or nonprofit setting
