Summer Literacy Institute

The Summer Literacy Institute (SLI) at Manhattan College is a week-long college immersion program for rising high school seniors in New York City. Students accepted into the program move to our campus for a week in July to attend classes with Manhattan College faculty, participate in various cultural events, and partake in writing workshops with current Manhattan College students, among other activities. All meals, events, and activities are funded by the College. When the week is over, each student leaves with a polished college application essay.

The program has seen immense success and has had an incredible impact on students' lives. Many SLI students from previous years have returned to Manhattan College after the summer to participate in SAT prep classes, college application workshops, and even a few Jasper basketball games! For many of these students, this experience has proven invaluable and has pushed them to apply to college and maintain important relationships with college students, faculty, and administrators here at the College.
